In the afterglow of his performance at Rock the Shores, the giddy Jesse Roper of The Roper Show, pulling faces and having a swell time backstage. Watch for his Kickstarter campaign for his new video and next performance at Sunfest in Duncan BC.
What a lovely surprise this morning to have some of my photos on the Decor8 Blog.
This past weekend I enjoyed one of my favourite Vancouver Island events, VIC Fest which essentially kicks of the festival season in our neck of the woods. There are so many great shows coming up: The Tall Tree Festival, Rock the Woods, Rock the Shores, Phillip's Backyard Weekend and last but not least, Rifflandia. Heres a pic of me taken by my friend, Tyson Elder, Victoria's own "rocktographer" while i am snapping polaroids backstage and one of my favourite shots of the day of Pigeon Hole.
Beautiful florals provided by Rook & Rose.
Wow! So wonderful to be featured on the 100 Layer Cake Blog. This all came about when I met the lovely Marika of Rock Paper Square a few months ago and she proposed her project of a Mid Century Modern Elopement. From the very beginning, Marika had a very specific vision for the shoot and had so many intricate and stylized details involved, many of which were handmade such as the paper mobile and geometric table. Her organization and enthusiam is beyond compare.
We had such a great team, with Erica of Rook & Rose styling the florals, creating a stunning garland of eucalyptus and beautiful bouquets of succulents, protea and peonies. The dress was provided by Trish of The White Peony and the wardrobe styling and jewelry were so beautifully fashioned by my lovely friend Elea of Covet & Keep. (Seriously, go out and get some of her jewelry,...it's awesome). Ruth & Dean provided the delicious cake & it all took place at the Maluxe Studio in Victoria BC with Hair and Make Up so artfully executed by Marion Groot and Carly Flint. Bash Speciality provided the furniture and additional accessories and Erik Van Kobra at Wolf Sheep is the artist behind the beautiful painting which provided such a colourful backdrop for the cake.
Lastly, the models, Allie & Blayke, are just the dearest hearts who made this all such a pleasure to photograph & are so very sweet. What a team effort. Thank you everyone. xo L
I can't stop listening to Current Swell's new record Ulysess. In fact, I ruined my perfect driving record last week, speeding along listening to their song "Keys to the Kingdom".
I snapped this quick Polaroid of them backstage at the Red Bull Tour Bus Hometown Tour in Victoria. Many thanks to the guys in the band and Morgan, their fabulous manager, for letting me hang out waiting for my shot and to Mike Roma from The Electric Timber Company's for all the kind words.
This is the lovely Clark. He's the culianary whiz kid behind the fabulous Hanks On Douglas in Victoria BC. They are becoming known for their untraditional spin on barbeque with menu items such as Lamb Ribs, Smoked Oyster BLT, local organic potato salad plus their tasty beans and collard greens. Just delicious. Try them out and say hi to Clark.
They also have a location in Tofino.

This Friday, January 24th, I am going be a part of an exhibit of music photographers work at the Vic 42 Studios in Victoria. Put together by my bearded friend Tyson Elder & Al Smith, the man behind Vic 42, the show will feature the work of Keri Coles, Brian Van Wck, Brett Reid, Lindsay Blaine, John carlow and many other shooters here in Victoria with whom I rub elbows in the pit at Rock the Shores, Rifflandia and various shows around town. I am showing my image of Rich Aucoin that I snapped on Polaroid in a quiet moment after his show. Can't wait.
